Challenge - Botanic Railway

Postby bendigo on Thu Nov 12, 2009 5:18 am

In 1969 botonist and lord of Arbader, Sir Athers White began laying a 4'8" railway around his polatial estate and botanical gardens. the circut of track which runs from the nearby town of thorens to his manor and then out around the park climbing continous 1:80 grades to the summit overlooking the manor from the other side of the valley before dropping at an easier 1:100. Sir White bought a 5F at the end of BR Steam and it is this loco that usually does the arduace trip stopping at each of the way side stations in the park.

ok Track is now laid and is not for the faint hearted some of the grades are nudging 1:25 (as an aussie i have a firm belief that track work should never be a "Constant" grade. so one had stays attached to regulator all the time

The stations and yards are in ,,, again not for the faint hearted is the run out of the turntable (at 1:12, dont laugh one railway i know of has this exact set up!!!!) have now started texturing the ground. Photo's will come when the gardens are in :P
