Challenge - Feather River Canyon

Postby Trainguy76 on Thu Nov 05, 2009 1:38 am

Here's my entry into the challenge. This is a route that goes from Keddie, to Crescent Mills, and Paxton.
This is based off of a real world place, but I will be heavily changed to what I want it to be. Crescent Mills is the largest city of the three.

In preperation, I have created a bit of what I wish to make. (this is not part of the route I plan to make at all. Only Practice)

Here is some real world footage,

Hi Trianguy

Welcome to the Challenge.

Another non-UK route will give this Challenge the right sort of international flavour. Also somewhere else to run the mighty Challenger perhaps :D

Hi

just looking at the video, this is a spectacular location and I think you should able to create a very good representation of it in RailWorks.

The train is so long that it would probably still be leaving its starting point at one end of my route whilst the other end is just arriving at the destination

Thank you.

Can somebody provide me with the relative length of the challenger with default stock? I don't want to make the radius on curves to small.

This is what I want the route to look like, when I start making the route for the challenge.

I did toy with the idea of doing a well known (ie easily researched) US route for the challenge and I this is one of the prototypes I considered, but I figured I'd spend the entire week tweaking the terrain and planting trees, plus I wouldn't be able to do justice to features like Keddie Wye using only default assets.

Good luck with your version though, it has to be one of the most spectacular US routes around and it would be great to see it in RW.

There is always a feeling of power when you start terraforming, and with such a mountainous area to do, the process should be doubly satisfying.
