The update actually
does fix this route, but there are a few wrinkles to the installation of both the route and the update that could potentially derail the unwary. First, Ruebelandbahn is a free-standing mini-route; do not install it to your routes folder of your main MSTS installation like you do for so many other routes. In this sense it's like Wayne Campbell's London & Port Stanley. Second, once you've installed Ruebelandbahn, you have to copy your train.exe and launcher.exe files into the main dir where you've installed Ruebelandbahn. Third, you have to have installed the BIN patch version 1.7 (or later, I use 1.8 and it works just fine) so that your train.exe has been updated.
The update listed above also requires a bit of handling, but nothing difficult. First, go to where you've installed Ruebelandbahn and delete the TRAINS/TRAINSET folder. Then install the update by executing it to some temp dir on your hard drive, no the Ruebelandbahn folder. Then manually copy the files, from dir-to-dir, from the temp location to where you have Ruebelandbahn installed, overwriting when called for. Then ...
Voila! Be prepared to be flabbergasted by the beauty of this route. It's set in the Harz mountains of Germany, and the scenery is just gorgeous. In fact, I'd go so far to say that it is the equal, and in many cases, the better, of payware routes costing lots of pounds/euros/dollars!
