Streaking Ahead

Postby MDIvey on Tue Jun 16, 2009 7:30 pm

I dont know if it will ever get finished ... I have several other part made locos that I've lost interest in for now. The only thing this has in its favour is that the A4's are one of my all time favourites and the drawings I'm using are of very high quality... I stumbled across this site by accident ... http://www.isinglass.edgson.net/ . Any way we'll see what happens with it. Even if this fails to reach the finish line I know of at least two other Streak projects so hopefully at least one will come off.

I'll do my best to complete this one.... but there is still a lot of work to do as you can see... I have deliberately started with a lot of the parts that are hardest to make to get them out of the way first :)

Danny ...go easy on those sugary drinks! :D

As a boy I used to sit on the platform at Darlington watching the trains go by, and my favourite was always the streaks, Mallard/Sir Nigel Gresley/Union of South Africa.

It would be very nostalgic to see these running in the sim, so please keep going. :D

With the covered wheels, (I think the wheels are covered from the shots) this looks more like Mallard than Sir Nigel Gresley & Union of South Africa. I suppose it depends on what era it is to be modelled in.
Whatever it is, an A4 will be just spiffing.
Sir Nigel pulled me back from York a few weeks ago - very fast too.

I've built the model with both types of valences and all 3 chimney variations (The Double Chimney fitted in LNER days varies slightly from that fitted in BR days) so That I can make a model of any Streak that I want and any in any livery that I want. I've even made solid lettering and nameplates ..the first ones I've done shown below.
