The Engine Shed at Loughborough was closed in April 1931 when the Charnwood Forest Railway lost its passenger services. All motive power requirements were met by Coalville Shed until closure of the line in 1963.Sadly Loughborough Derby Road lost all services on closure in 1955 when Shepshed became the new terminus for goods and mineral traffic. The line between Shepshed and Loughborough remained intact until 1962 as a siding for old wagon storage which was very unpopular with the residents of Loughborough due to the unsightly nature of the old wagons. The engine shed still exists today but is barely recognisable. The only other remains nearby are the Goods Shed and some old track in the Messengers & Co. private siding.
Here is one last view of the Engine Shed.
