MSTS2 will released holiday 2009, then a better name for MSTS2 would be: Microsoft Trainsimulator 2010.

An earlier release is perhaps possible, when this software would be divided in three parts:

1. North- and South- America
2. Europe and Africa
3. Asia and Australia

Sorry but that's not how Microsoft work. It will be released when its ready and then to the whole world. It wont be split up to allow a quicker release as part of its features is the World of Rails which is railway data for the whole world. If anything it's possible ( if they need to ) that it could be released even latter than christmas 2009. As for the name seeing its only the 2nd version of MSTS ( excluding the abandoned version ) there is nothing wrong with the name as it's not like Flightsim where there have been 10 versions.

Shipping to different areas at different times has no way of releasing the product any earlier. We are working on all routes in parallel, so most of them will be done around the same time.

To give this topic a whole new swing.

What is the exact meaning of the term "Holiday 2009"?
Is it probably misinterpeted with the term "Holiday Season 2009", what means somewhere around Christmas 2009?

There is a lot of confusion about this going around in different Trainsimulator fora around the internet.
Because a lot of European customers think that "Holiday 2009" means Summer holiday.
It's not very clear.

Can you shed some light on this subject?

For "holiday 2009" replace with "thanksgiving 2009".....in other words late November....ish!

With half of January gone, I reckon we have approx 10 months to go, all being well at Redmond (see various industry tech blogs about rumoured projected staff and project cuts there). We have our fingers crossed for the ACEs team, sure we've vested interest in their future, but having been through this myself, I do wish them good fortune.

The consoling facts here seem to be that ACES has been around and producing quality Flight Sim releases for quite a while. Still, I sincerely hope they're not among the ones MS decides to cut. We'd lose not one but two good sim franchises if this were to happen.

And I've been wondering about the use of the term 'holiday' as well. It does seem to imply the end of the year but I'm wondering if it was picked because of its vagueness so the final release date can be moved back and forth some as needed. Just my own musings here.

Cheers,

Alot of games are geared towards the "holiday season" due to the fact that time is big buisness in the industry.
