It's 80 miles (long enough for a good route - 2 1/2 hrs - but short enough to model), crosses an entire country (well, sort of) - has wonderful mountain & sea views, 16 stations to stop at, 29 bridges to cross...historic locos (http://www.hrsoc.org.uk/Images/Big%20Goods.jpg) and who would not want to travel to a station called "Muir of Ord"???

Sounds a good contender, IMO.

A good UK Steam route would be something on the Bluebell Railway or the Nene Valley Railway. It's still modern, they just run Steam. :)

Well Paul, how's yourself. The Kilkenny cats did fight 'til only their tails were left!

I'm also partial, on occasion, to a drop of Kilkenny brew.

Cheers, CaptainBazza :drinking: !! I'm a non-drinker myself so can't comment on the Kilkenny brew, but what is truly wonderful is the smell of hops at the Guinness brewery in Dublin.

I'm sure like somebody has already mentioned here fourth route will come from some unexpected direction and in my opinion from former USSR area. I even try to be more exact - from Ukraina. Beautiful women (best example is they premiere minister), friendly people and surprisingly good beer too - all this exists there. Very big country where You can find exotic railways on beautiful landscape, even some working narrow gauge lines. Had honor to visit that country about 20 years ago when it was still a part of Soviet Union. So I will be not too surprised if they'll announce Ukrainian or Russian route for next. Lots of interesting there.
I'm sure UK route will not be included this time. Brittish trainsimmers will buy MSTS 2 anyway if it's quality product. There are 3-rd party developers who can create UK stuff. And don't forget - with RailSimulator You've got 3 (!) UK routes and the only other - German one was total dissapointment if talking about quality and functionality. For me it's strange that MSTS 2 package will contain 2 quite similar (both modern era, diesel with similar rolling stock) US routes. At least MSTS 1 provided one US electric passanger route.

Well, this route is definitely NOT going to be the fourth route, but would make for an interesting route for a freeware or 3rd-party developer:

Council City & Solomon River Railroad

An interesting read....

Interesting choices, I've had a few of my own.

London to Dover/ Calais to Paris: recreate the famous Fleche D'Or/ Golden Arrow expresses that linked the UK with France, the forunner of the Channel Tunnel. Plenty of diverse traffic from steam to electric and plenty of scenery ranging from busy networks through cities, countrysides, coastal routes and harbours at Calais and Dover.

West Highland Railway "Scotland": A very scenic route that runs through long rolling hills and along lochs with a very challenging terrain, hosting both steam and diesels of a wide variety. A route that is well known for its role to non-rail enthusiasts as the "Hogwarts Railway" in the Harry Potter series.

I was looking at the current route choices and I cant find any routes that include steam locos, only diesels and electrics. Is that the case or is there steam in msts2?

Not sure why this has been bumped?

The fourth detailed route was announced some time ago and is Koln to Duisburg in Germany.

Anything else not in a detailed route will be covered in the "WOR" package, including the whole of the UK.
