Well i have to say that i was anti Vista too, but it outperforms xp in the gaming department in my experience even if it is glitchy and a pain, but Rs runs smoother faster and better compared to Xp.
I noticed in the vid that the dreaded msts stutters were still apparent! Hope they iron that out with a bit of decent pre loader tech? Mind you though it was very nice to see the loco's wobbling and swaying around, didn't quite notice if it was visible in cab? And i definitely like the WOR concept, seems something like that would encourage non route builders to "up" the detail of any given part they wish to and have a go? Nice.

I think it is.

And if they build in the same "motion" as in FSX, then the "driver's eye view" will be affected by changes in acceleration, etc. So, if you're buffering up to a line of wagons and hit hard, the "view" will lurch as if you're thrown by the sudden stop!

I have had the same experience with gaming. Vista has been getting better and better and was the first OS from Microsoft to surprise me by not bluescreening after a couple of runs of MSTS (everything else, including Server 2003 Enterprise and even Wine under Unix is brought down by MSTS..) That said Vista tends to enhance the appearance of even DX9-only games as well so it's not a bad gaming system at all.

Performance-wise I'll take all the detail I can get from the game and then buy hardware that can handle it. Realism is the end of the line for me so if the sim throws more resources at it, so much for the better. Of course, there should be a slider to lower settings for those who don't want to go that route.

Cheers,
